Foxes and Fossils: A Musical Tribute to Judy Blue Eyes

The possibility of new music from Foxes and Fossils seemed uncertain at best. However, during my exploration, I stumbled upon a fascinating discovery. Maggie Adams and Sammie Purcell joined the band when they were just 15 years old, and since the 2010 release of 'Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,' the girls had attended college, while other band members relocated to distant areas, making it challenging for them to record music together.

I watched several videos from Tim Purcell's channel, featuring expertly recorded music despite being recorded in difficult settings such as a restaurant parking lot and rooftop seating area. The band consisted of Darwin Conort, Maggie Adams, Tim Purcell, Sammie Purcell, and Scott King, left to right.

What struck me was the exceptional cover of 'Suite: Judy Blue Eyes' recorded live at Bella's Pizza Bar And Grill in Smyrna, GA, with TV sets still running behind them. The video had been on YouTube for a decade, garnering over 4.2 million views. Like many others, I first encountered Foxes and Fossils through YouTube's suggested video algorithm.

Sadly, Scott King, the band's bass player, passed away recently. In a Zoom meeting with fellow band members from The Mustangs, they described him as an extraordinary gift-giver, encourager, and top-notch bass player who realized his dream before his passing. As a fan of Foxes and Fossils for several years, I extend my condolences to the band on their loss.
